Frequently pondered subjects

Q: How do I contact you?

A: Email us with questions, comments, or special orders using this form.

Q: Other than this site, where are Redder, Loose Thread, Brilliante and No Karma releases available?

A: Nail Distribution is the No Karma Music Group's exclusive distributor in the United States and Canada. Independent stores & many indie-friendly chains (even Best Buy and Barnes & Noble) can order our releases from Nail and pass them on to you, the consumer. Ask your favorite clerk at your favorite store if you'd like to see NOK releases on their shelves!

Q: How do I get a user account?

A: If you don't have an account yet you can register here.

Our users section allows you to review your past orders, review your details and do all kinds of useful stuff.

Q: I work for a radio station / magazine / publicity company. Can you send me promo copies?

A: Sure! Contact us with your information and we'll add you to our promo list.

Q: How can my band / label sell our music on your site?

A: We offer a consignment service to any band or label. You supply us with your records and pay an annual consignment fee of $10; we get the record on the site! Read this page for more information, and for a printable invoice!

Q: Can you release my band's record / Can I send you a demo?

A: Unfortunately, it is not very likely that we can put out your record. Our advice is to self-release your first record, go out and play a bunch of shows, and sell lots of copies of that record. You'll make a lot of contacts along the way, and *those* are the people who might be able to help you with your second record.

And hey, if you get that first record out, you should contact us about that consignment service we just mentioned!

Q: Can I use Paypal on your site?

A: Absolutely! At checkout, instead of entering your credit card info, you simply choose "Paypal" and our Paypal instructions will be displayed on the next page. You'll also receive the information via email.

At this time, we have not integrated Paypal directly into our store software, but the extra step is pretty simple, and worth it if you're a loyal Paypal shopper!

Q: Can I send you a check or money order instead of paying electronically?

A: You can do that, too! Choose "Send Me a Bill" at checkout, same as above, and send your check or money order to the address listed. You'll also receive the information via email. We will hold orders for up to 14 days, giving you plenty of time to mail us the payment.

Q: How long before I'll receive my order?

A: We process and ship orders 4 times a week (roughly every other day). Packages are shipped First Class domestically (Priority if they weigh over 14 ounces), so they should arrive in your mailbox about 5 days after ordering. We use Standard Air Mail for all international packages, so your order should arrive in 9 to 12 days.

Q: What are your shipping rates?

A: Here are our shipping rates (first class in the USA & North America, air mail overseas).

Q: Can I verify that Nokarma.com is a secure site?

A: The information that you send is protected using SSL encryption.
Contact us if you have further questions about this matter--we want to make sure our customers feel safe using our online store.

Q: How do you compile your Upcoming Releases page?

A: We receive press releases from record labels, and we scour distributor web sites.

Q: Why isn't, oh, say TNT by Tortoise available in your store?

A: Because our small staff manually enters all items into our store database, we do not have a definitive list online of all the records we could potentially sell to you. However, you can always contact us with special requests. We constantly are adding new items to the store, and if something's out of stock or not listed at all, we will happily track down a copy for you.

Q: Why isn't the new Interpol in your store?

A: No, we aren't being elitist pricks. We simply don't have access to the good distributors for most major labels (and certain indies). Our sales volume is much too small for them. Because of this, we would have to deal with secondary distributors, meaning by the time No Karma has the record, it's been marked up four times.

So to answer your question, we don't carry (for example) Interpol CDs because we don't think you want to spend $18.99 on them! You can go to a bigger store and get them much cheaper.

As our store continues to grow, we'll keep trying to find major-label releases at good prices.

Q: Why don't you carry more vinyl?

A: First, you CAN special order anything you'd like! The reason we don't keep much vinyl in stock is that the demand is very specific, making it difficult for us to anticipate what to stock and what not to stock. Also, most vinyl can not be returned to distributors, so we try to only stock the stuff that we're absolutely sure we'll sell! The same can be said for t-shirts, magazines, and DVDs.
